This 6.2 mile regional trail was developed in cooperation with Pierce County and Tacoma Power Utility. The trail is paved and ranges from 12-16 feet in width. There are trailheads within the City at Borgen Boulevard, Hollycroft Street and Grandview Street. PenMet Parks has extended the trail south of the City Limits to 14th Avenue Northwest and maintains a trailhead with parking at this location.
The City of Gig Harbor, in coordination with local emergency responders, PenMet Parks, and Tacoma Public Utilities, recently funded and installed Emergency Locator Signage on the full length of the Cushman Trail.
The new markers, located every half mile, correspond to GPS locations which will help first responders find users on the trail more quickly and efficiently. If you experience an emergency on the trail, report your nearest locator position to emergency personnel.
