City of Gig Harbor Names New Tourism and Communications Director

Reporting to City Administrator Bob Larson and working with both Mayor Kit Kuhn and the city’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, Ms. Pettitt Roe will be responsible for the city’s internal and external communications, marketing, advertising, along with tourism and events. 


Of the appointment, Mayor Kit Kuhn remarked “We are glad to welcome Laura to our team and know her familiarity with Gig Harbor along with extensive experience will be a tremendous value to our staff and City.”

Ms. Pettitt Roe brings a broad range of public and private sector experience in the tourism and communications fields to the position. Specializing in the tourism marketing and communications, a 17-year span includes working with state and international tourism destinations, international airlines, well-known and emerging hotel brands, ranging from here in Washington state, to further afield in the Caribbean, Australia and throughout Europe.

In addition, she grew up in Gig Harbor, and has intricate knowledge of Gig Harbor’s past and present attributes, along with a keen eye for retaining the specific charm of a picture-perfect town through future growth.

“I feel incredibly lucky to return to Gig Harbor, and serve an incredible community through my work in tourism and communications, and I look forward to the impact we can have through sharing the stories of what makes our city an amazing place to live, work and visit,” said Ms. Pettitt Roe.
