Ancich Waterfront Park Construction Update 5-15-18

ANCICH PARK AND NETSHED REHABILITATION PROJECT

PROJECT UPDATE 5/14/18

Work in Progress:

The City’s contractor, Quigg Brothers Construction, has been busy with the Ancich Park and Netshed Rehabilitation Project. The net shed has been placed back on the reconstructed Ancich Pier. It will remain there while it is being rehabilitated. Quigg’s carpentry crew and the City’s engineering team have surveyed the structure to determine what siding and framing timbers can be salvaged and re-used. Original materials will be used as possible.

Construction of the Ancich and Jerkovich Piers continues to go well. Timber decking installation is expected to be complete by the end of May.

Construction of the boat storage building is underway. The work consists of excavation, forming walls, installation of structural steel, and pouring concrete.

Impacts to the Public:

Pedestrian Detour Route

Quigg has closed the parking stalls and sidewalk directly adjacent to the site for the duration of the project. Pedestrian foot traffic is no longer permitted to use the sidewalk directly in front of the site. However, a pedestrian detour is established. The pedestrian route shifts foot traffic from the sidewalk on the north side of Harborview Drive to the sidewalk on the south side of Harborview drive, from Harborview/Stinson to Harborview/Novak. There are established pedestrian crossings in both locations. A temporary rectangular rapid flashing beacon (RRFB) is installed at the Harborview/Stinson crosswalk.

Harborview Drive Impacts

Harborview Drive will be operating as a two-lane, two-direction street over the next two weeks. However, please use caution as trucks are currently entering/leaving the site hauling excavation material. There will be access to all businesses and residents for the duration of the project.

Ancich sidewalk improvement and associated frontage improvement construction began this week. The sidewalk improvements will be constructed along Harborview Drive. They begin at Novak Street and continue to Eddon Boat Park. The pedestrian detour route that has been in place for the duration of the Ancich project will remain in place for the sidewalk improvements. Up to six public parking stalls along Harborview Drive may be temporarily closed as the sidewalk improvements are constructed. This work will continue for the foreseeable future. The project timeline will be updated on the project website as information becomes available. Thank you for your patience.

Noise Impacts

Night work is not anticipated for the next two weeks.
