2021 Parks, Recreation & Open Space Plan

How can Gig Harbor’s parks and open spaces meet your family's recreation needs?

We want to hear from you!

The city has started to update its Parks, Recreation & Open Space (PROS) Plan, previously adopted in 2016. The new citywide PROS Plan will establish a road map for providing high quality, community-driven parks, trails, natural areas and recreation offerings for Gig Harbor. The PROS Plan will create a framework to allow the City to respond to new opportunities as they arise and be strategic about planned investments to the park and open space system.

Citizen input is crucial to make sure recreational goals and priorities are consistent with community needs and interests. There will be several, COVID-sensitive opportunities for the community to participate, including an online survey, virtual stakeholder discussions and an open house. This process gives us an excellent opportunity to identify ways in which to best serve the recreational needs of the community over the coming 6 to 10 years.

The review and adoption of the updated, draft Parks and Open Space Master Plan is anticipated for early 2022.
